Ghandi om palestinakonflikten

Palestina tillhör araberna på samma sätt som England tillhör engelsmännen och Frankrike tillhör fransmännen. Det som sker i Palestina idag, kan inte rättfärdigas av något moraliskt värdesystem. Om de (judarna) måste titta på Palestina som sitt nationalhem, då är det fel att gå in i landet i skuggan av de brittiska vapnen. En religiös akt kan inte utövas med hjälp av en bajonett eller bomben. De kan enbart bosätta sig i Palestina genom arabernas välvilja. I dagsläget är de britterna behjälpliga i att plundra ett folk som inte gjort dem något. Jag försvarar inte de arabiska överdrifterna. Jag önskar de hade valt ickevålds vägen i sitt försvar mot vad de rätteligen anser är ett oacceptabelt intrång på deras mark. Men enligt de accepterade påbuden om rätt och fel, kan inget sägas emot det arabiska motståndet mot det förkrossande motståndet.
